The Twilight Ascension

Annals 3: A narrow escape.

I feel as though I am only now getting a chance to breathe. I only met my new fellows just two days ago, and already I have watched as they bond and our group becomes tighter knit.

After my companions put down the gang hideout, we learned that they were after magic users and employed very loosely by a woman named Astara. Before we even had a chance to fully recover from the assault on the gang hideout, the adorable little blue man was off again to scout ahead and find us this Astara woman, that little raskul.

I could tell that we were in trouble, and just then I knew what I could do! I went off to find help, and pulled the strings I needed. I found Kat’tho in some disgusting hovel of a room, shining his nasty little bulbous…. thorax? butt?…. I don’t know. It’s disgusting! Anyhow, after a bit of favors the Alliance let us bring him with us on our adventure to Nibenay. I brought him back to Suldin’s place and left the bug man with them to acclimate. I then got what will likely be the last comfortable night of sleep I’ll get in a while back at the estate.

The next morning we spent working out a plan of attack upon Astara’s warehouse. We decided to attack at night to minimize the amount of turmoil. Everything happened so fast and was such a blur. It was absolutely frightening! Our adorable blue Spluke charged in while the rest of the group battled a vicious host of enemies who turned out to all be slavers! Slavers, in Tyr, are you KIDDING me!?

All seemed lost, Kat’tho and Rygar bravely took an immense punishment while Suldin and Nanook did their best to tear down the enemy defenses from the outside. Things seemed to be under control, if only barely, but Spluke was still missing. I watched from a distance, getting the best view from a little building across the alley as Rygar fell. In that moment I knew the group was in trouble and I still hadn’t caught sight of Spluke. It took only a few moments and the group began to get overwhelmed. Kat’tho, barely holding together fled the combat and joined me. I can’t even begin to express how good it felt not to be left alone at that time, even if it was the nasty bug man keeping me company.

There was no choice nut to flee. I led Kat’tho through one of the tunnels into Under-Tyr and made our way to Marrhias’ place where I knew we would be safe. As monstrous and dangerous as Under-Tyr is, I find that it has always been a place of refuge and information for me. When we got to Matthias’ house I explained the situation and both Matthias and I went on our way to gather what information we could about this Astara, leaving the bug man to recover.

I was amazed to find everyone still alive and waiting when I returned! Mangled and battered, but alive! As we discussed what had transpired with Matthias and the rest of our group rested their aches and pains I went out to attempt to gather some basic supplies through town. When I returned, everyone was ready for sleep.

Now I sit here, penning our tale, and wondering what is to come next. Before passing out I heard mention of finding Astara again and launching another attack on her. They said that they almost defeated her and her goons when escaping from her dungeons. I look at these new companions of mine, no, these new friends. I wonder how fleeting these friendships will be, if today is any indication then some of these men will be dead before too long. Which leads me to wonder what I have gotten myself into….

Even so, I will do my best to help them all. Before I head to sleep myself, I’ll help Spluke. When his hands were crushed, it ruined his beautiful nails. I think I’ll redo them! I might even do something with Suldin’s hair. If these are to be our last days as we run headlong into enemies of unknown substance, we might as well look good doing it!

Annals 2: First Meeting.

I had only just met my new companions and already I find adventure!

Matthias had arranged the meeting with us and told us of our mission. We are to investigate the strange events happening around Nibenay. Apparently there have been sightings of Drey congregations, undead and other nastiness that I would rather not think about. Our goal is to find the source of these problems to see if they are somehow linked to defiling magic, the Sorcerer-Kings or worse. Information from Veiled Alliance contacts in the area seem to be inconclusive, so we’re being sent.

Too bad the mission doesn’t come with a caravan and iron chests of gold. Instead we need to find our own way. Luckily we are not critical on time, as our goals also hinge on more broat topics, like investigating the other sects of the Alliance in other places as we travel. Until we can gather the coin and come up with a concrete plan of action to get from Tyr to Nibenay though, I will be content with helping my new friends with the odd jobs we are sure to perform here in town.

Speaking of my new friends, what specimens!!!

The first one I laid eyes upon had the most exquisite shade of blue pigment to his skin! I had read about Spluke the goblin in Sadira’s notes, and always did dream of meeting him. He was a nice enough fellow, a bit on the ugly side, but I tried to help him with that. I found a darling shade that would go with his onyx pools he calls eyes. I can tell he hates covering up under that cloak of his and would rather walk proud, flaunting that beautiful shimmering skin to the world. If he were not my friend I would be half tempted to skin and tan his hide to make a wonderful cloak, if only he had more skin.

In the room was Nanook. He is a strange one, about the same size as Spluke, however his smell is strange and his mannerisms foreign. He seems to know enough about the land though, even if what he knows is disjointed and from the tales of an isolated tribe of uncivilized critters on the other side of the mountains. Might be I need to braid his hair, that may loosen his lips and get a more jovial attitude from him. For that matter, might be he just needs to get out of that gutter he lives in around the Bard’s Quarter. How dreadful!

Rygar Matsu, what an incredible creature he is! The beast of a man seems hot just to be around and stands as a rippling stone of man in a land of smaller creatures. Beneath that exotic armor he has muscles that seem to be exploding with some inner fire. His precision with blade and knowledge of battle are mysterious to me, but I shall tell his tale to the best of my ability in the forthcoming pages.

Lastly there was Suldin Alviss, with his gorgeous Nibenay lines etched into his face. The man is a subtle one, but cuts a fine looking face in any crowd. He will be indespensible as we cross to Nibenay I am sure, as he has made the journey before and is sure to have contacts when we reach the city. It is said he rides a magnificent Crodlu named Toddlu, how cute! I can’t wait to see him racing the sands upon his loyal mount as we tackle the desert!

Despite the wonderful meeting we all had, it was dampened a bit as we left. Some lowly thugs assaulted us, well… They are assaulting the four of them right now. At first I was SO very frightened, but my four companions sprang into action without hesitating. After I calmed myself I moved around the building we were stuck in to get a better look. I write this as my fellows leave to dispatch those brutes who are now fleeing.

Spluke and Rygar led the charge, crashing headlong into these dastardly thugs. I missed alot of this in my fear, fretting like a child. I think I may have even broke a nail, which would be a travesty. I shall get better at this though, and learn to observe more thoroughly. For a moment I thought Spluke and Rygar would get overrun by these wicked men. However the tide of battle turned and my friends pushed back, causing them to attempt retreat. As they gave ground, a few fled.

Oh! It looks like we have one alive! I must catch up with my battle hardened men!

Annals 1: The Upcoming Meeting

Tonight I begin what will surely be the story of my life. Ashe came to me, telling me Sadira wished to see me.

Sadira!

What a sight, such power she has! Ashe and I discussed the details of the meeting as we left my chambers and ventured to Sadira’s offices. She thought I would be used for a mission, that I might be leaving soon. I was nervous and excited as we walked and talked. The whole thing happened so fast, I must have looked a mess!

When we got there and I was presented with Sadira, I found myself reflecting on these last few decades of my life. The endless toil for King Kalak, the feeling of being lost under Tithian. Now I had purpose! I work for the Veiled Alliance and help keep inventory on activities through the Tablelands for Sadira! Although rarely called upon for anything besides paperwork, accountings and the whispers abound, I am doing good! Making a difference!

Sadira then gave me the news. Tomorrow night I shall go down into the Slave Pits to the fifth paddock. As much as that place frightens me, what with the history of abuse and now filthy streets and unruly night time squatters. I am excited! I will be meeting with Matthias Morthen! Sadira told me that I would be given a mission by him that would take me throughout the city and beyond. That I will be working to take accounts abroad and send them back, and aid fellow members of the Alliance in any way I can.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. I must attend to all of my duties before I go, get things in order, and pack. PACK! Has anyone ever had so many lovely things as I? I must attend the Elven Market for some luggage, certainly. I am to arrive earlier than the others to discuss my duties in the exact with Matthias. I wonder who it is I will be working with? I know all the names but none of the faces. How exciting this will all be!

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
